(More customer reviews)I ordered two of these lanterns for use during power outages. I opened the first one, inserted batteries and turned the unit on. It is bright and is best suited for placing higher up and letting the light diffuse downward. The one thing I noticed was that the switch seemed cheap and poorly made. In particular after rotating on and off a few times the light would flicker as I had to find the sweet spot for each of the settings on the lantern. At first, I thought it could have been a defective unit, however I took the second one out of the box and it did the exact same thing. This is not something I considered worthy of returning the items for. It worked in each of the settings, but just took a little wiggling of the switch to get it right and is something worth noting for potential buyers.

(More customer reviews)We had high hopes of using this as shelter for our RV but it is not made for that. The picture shows farm equipment stored under it and Camping World sells it therefore we thought it would work for an RV shelter. But the company says it is for short term use like day or weekend use. It says it has a 11 ft center but due to a stabilizing bar that goes across (not shown in picture) you loose 18 inches of height. There is no way to secure the horizontal bars (side and top) or the trusses to the side angles - the company says the canopy will hold it together. We found this not to be true. They came apart on the top when we were putting the legs on and a 10mph wind would catch the canopy and pull it apart (we had the canopy as tight as we could get it). We bought extra legs to raise it high enough for our RV but had left it with the one set, as it came, to see how it would hold up to weather. The second night up we had winds and many of the horizontal bars came out of the connector. We ended up going out in the wee hours and taking the canopy cover off. For the money it is poorly constructed. The welds do not go all the way around the angle bars, the lack of holes to screw to secure the bars is poor planning. We bought screws to hold the truss bar to the side angle since there were holes there. Again, the company depends on the canopy to hold the unit together. We have shelters we use for flea markets that are easier to put up and better constructed. I can not imagine going to all the work to put this up for a weekend event. My sister's car shelter sold at a warehouse store is made better and has tension rods to make sure the unit stays together. I am glad Camping World stands behind the products they sell. It would be wise though to put a disclaimer that it is not intended to be used as a storage shelter.

(More customer reviews)My only complaints are that the printed directions stink, it takes a little strength to pop open the structure, and the ground stakes need to be replaced with Home Depot's plastic stakes. Otherwise, this is a terrific beach shelter... lots of shade, plenty of ground-level pockets to be filled with sand for stability, heavy-duty fabric, guy-rope to help keep it stable in wind (once you replace the stakes), fast and easy breakdown, and I love how it collapses into a 50inX10inX10in carry bag. Black Diamond Bipod Bivy Bag Review

(More customer reviews)For side sleepers like me, the Bi-Pod Bivy is way too tight in both the hip and shoulder areas. Also, I use the Therma-Rest NeoAir mattress which when fully inflated takes-up three inches in height.
I have reordered and have received the heavier but far more spacious Tri-Pod Bivy. Its size is just right for me.
The quality of both models is excellent.
I have two complaints with both models. First, the zip-up opening is much too small. The opening should have at least one more foot to facilitate entry into the bivy. Second, I don't understand why the outer seams don't come pre-sealed from the factory. Instead you are sent a tube of sealer and a syringe and must seal it yourself.

My friend has this. I tease him mercilessly.

Coleman 2-Pole Sun Shade Review

(More customer reviews)The shelter is multifunctional in that it can be set up like a tent, a lean-to, or a canopy with some extra poles(haven't tried this one yet). The problem is this is not a one person, albeit, sometimes not even a two-person operation. And on a beach with winds of as little as 15 mph it become an exercise in perseverance. Actually had to bring some rocks to anchor this down,(the wind kept pulling up the anchors up from the sand). Sand bags might help. But frankly anything less than perfect, windless weather makes setting it up a challenge,(undo-able in less than 10 minutes). The fabric is excellent and the UV factor really shields from the sun. Once set up, functions great, used it as a lean-to in Acadia National Park on their beach front. That's why I only gave it a 3 star. Would have loved to have given it a 5 star, but its impractical for a family of 4 (2 adults-2 sm. children) or a single individual or even a couple without hassling. Probably for a group of 3-4 adults it might go smoother and not in high wind situations. Probably will be returning mine and looking for other alternative shelters.

(More customer reviews)I had great hopes for this tent bag because I am very tired of having to re-roll my tent over and over when I am trying to pack up quickly. This bag would be perfect except for one thing - the compression straps that are attached to the outside of the bag don't hold firmly. When pulled tightly, they immediately loosen up. I don't understand this problem at all - all the various compression sacks I have use the same sort of fastener, and they all hold tightly. I think Sierra Designs needs to replace the buckle part of the fastener with one of a better quality.

Portable 5' Beach Shelter Review

(More customer reviews)I get migraines for the sun and so wanted something I could use on the beach that could fit into my carry-on luggage. The package is very small and fit well into my luggage as well as into my backpack for a trip to the beach.
I practiced setting it up in my living room before my trip and I'm glad I did. It's easy to set up but I struggle with 3-dimensional perception and so it was good to have practice. It was easy to set up on the beach even though it was kind of windy.
It's not that big once you get it set up. My husband and I could lie on the beach with our heads under it, but when I was wearing my 7-inch hat brim, only I could fit.
I pinned some cloth over the mesh vent stripe so that the entire shelter provided shade for me.
I'm glad I got it and will definitely use it again.
some of the stitching was already coming out at the end of one day's use, so I will have to mend that, but otherwise it was fully functional.

Portable 8' Beach Shelter Review

(More customer reviews)We bought this to take with us to the beach to shade our 8 month old baby. I also wanted a discrete place to nurse her as well.
I set it up at home first to see how difficult it would be - it was really easy - just three poles used and its up! It was very roomy.
Definately a bit more difficult at the beach to do it, but that's factoring the wind and sand. Still quite easy though.
It was very cool inside, however, not when the front is zipped up (which I tried when I needed to feed the baby) --- it got very hot with the front closed up. But it still offered alot of privacy, even with the front part opened up.
It folds up smaller than one of those packageable lounge chairs, very light, and I know its going to be something we use for many years.

TITANIUM ULTRALITE HOOK STAKE Review

(More customer reviews)A perfect set of tough little stakes made from titanium. This metal is durable, will not corrode and will stun you once you hold them. They feel like you're holding a set of six soda straws as opposed to six metallic stakes. While they may be featherweight, they are tougher than it gets, and I've had the opportunity to use them in a variety of soils including the sand and rock of Iraq.
They held up beautifully securing my portable solar panel from Brunton from the high winds of the Iraqi desert, and equally so in the clay and rocky soil of Fort Riley Kansas. Other reviewers will tell you to look into different styles depending on where you plan to camp. I say this is excellent advice, never trust your safety to something you haven't researched fully. What I can say is these have served me well everywhere I have used them, and they are well worth the price plus the weight you save in your pack. Now if only i could find a packable titanium hammer haha....

Grand Trunk Skeeter Beeter Pro Hammock Review

(More customer reviews)I was dead set on getting an ENO hammock, until I read the great raving reviews of the lesser named brands here from Amazon.
I also found that once you start outfitting an ENO hammock with things like bug nets they get very pricey. So I found the Skeeter Beeter.
It was a little bit of a stab having not read any reviews on it, but the price was right and the quality seemed to be there.
The hammock is very comfortable, and made of really nice materials (parachute material for the hammock, and almost like a silk for the bug-net...no cheap-o stuff here).
My only complaints are (and I'm not really sure they're complaints, just things I wish I kn ew before buying), the size of this thing is pretty big for 1 person. 400# capacity doesn't give enough of a description, but I'm 6'1" at 185lbs and I get swallowed by this thing. I wish it was about 10% less wide.
The other thing was the bug-net...cool setup, but it does not come off...not possible to remove. There's a zipper which runs about 90% the length of 1 side, but cannot be peeled back and removed. Not a complaint per se, but I wish I knew these things before-hand
