The set up is a little tricky because you are dealing with stakes to hold the tent down. This is more of a rain fly than a tent. There is NO BOTTOM for this tent. They sell a separate bottom for this model or you can buy the bug-screen insert that fits perfectly inside this tent. You can use trekking-poles to hold it up the tent, however this sucks because once you go inside the tent in limits the amount of space you have and you are always fearful of knocking down one or both of the trekking-poles and down comes they tent with you in it. I like to use the corner loops and tie the tent to a tree using string or rope. This way you have more room and you can roll over in the night without worry of bringing down the house. What I don't like about the tent besides the trekking pole thing is you need to stake down the tent to have it work properly and you really need to be in a place that has some place to hang the tent. Another words this tent is not very useful if you are in a place that has a hard ground where stakes don't work and/or a place that has no trees to hang up the tent. One more thing, it really helps to buy a light weight tarp for this tent to sit on. My 6'-8" friend used this tent for five nights while hiking in the Sespe wilderness in 2010. It was the first time he had a back packing tent that actually fit him. This tent can easily and comfortably hold two people and two backpacks, or one giant person like SHAQ.

The ultra-lite waterproof SilLite fabric of the Shangri-La 2 sheds both rain and snow, making the Shangri-La 2 surprisingly weather-resistant. Silicone-elastomere fabrics allow their fibers to stretch without separating or breaking, and this makes them stronger than conventional PU-coated (or PU/siliconized) fabrics for a far lower weight. Silicone impregnation means that the silicone completely permeates the fibers and also makes the fabric hydrophobic, so it doesn't soak up water and gain weight.
