(More customer reviews)We needed a tent with space for 2 people and 2 medium sized dogs. Our Sierra Designs Comet was too small for comfortable car camping. We bought the Meteor Light 4 believing the space specifications would suit our needs, and on the basis of our previous Sierra Designs experience. We were not disappointed!
The tent is very easy to set up. The "Jake's foot" pole to tent attachments are cleverly engineered, though clipping the fly in place was tricky when sand interfered with the connection. The interior is very light and bright. And tall! And roomy; plenty of space for two people, two Springer Spaniels and gear.
I endured 3 massive Northern Wisconsin thunderstorms over a one week period. It was very wet and windy with over 6 inches of rain during that time. The tent proved to be dry and secure through the storms. The two vestibules are not large but did keep shoes and a little outdoor rug dry. One minor drawback is when opening the angled fly door, a little water drips into the tent.
I've needed to replace the shock cord for the support the poles on my 8 year old SD Comet tent and it was a very simple process. I have not figured out how the SD Meteor Light 4 poles can be re-shocked at home.
The Meteor Light 4 doesn't seem to be light or small enough as a backpacking tent, but is great for car campers. It is well designed, engineered and constructed. I enthusiastically recommend the Sierra Designs Meteor Light 4 tent.
