(More customer reviews)Got this tent just in time for a weekend camping trip.
The good: After practicing once at home, this tent only took about 10 minutes to set up solo. The fly attaches with quick release buckles, and the front corner of the tent and fly are done in a different color than the other 3 to ensure you're doing it the right way, and I skipped the step to put the spreader bar in the fly's pockets. It's nearly impossible, turns a 10 minute setup into half an hour, and I doubt it's necessary. The tent is very well ventillated with the tarp on, and there is ample room under the integral vestibule for muddy boots. The fly also attaches to the sides of the tent with toggles versus snaps, ties, etc. to speed setup. The frame also seems much stronger than the older timberline 2 & 4 frames. Having the hub integrated in the "A" of the frame also speeds setup. Floor size is certainly suitable for 2 guys on cots...if you are against the side of the tent, you are against mesh, with a couple inches between you and the fly, so you aren't going to get wet from condensation. The pre-done seam sealing seems very well done, as well. The vestibule is vented with a covered mesh vent that is held open at the bottom with a plastic wire...a nice improvement over the old timberline "tube vent" on their vestibules.
The bad: You would think that with a $270 +/- tent, Eureka would ditch the stupid plastic stakes and wire pins for some decent aluminum y-stakes like the MSR Groundhogs. Not so. The tent is supplied with crappy stakes you have to replace anyways. I would rather have not had any at all, and a message from Eureka to buy my own, or better yet just pay a little more up front. Come on, guys, this isn't a $30 pup tent from Wal Mart that you get for your 6 year old to use in the back yard. That's tacky, Eureka, just tacky.
Also, they are serious when they say it's a 3-season tent. If it's 20 degrees outside, it will be 20 degrees inside...the tent will absolutely not hold any heat. Granted, that ventillation will be nice when it's 80 degrees and raining.
