(More customer reviews)I hope this new model is better than the 85000. In any rain that isn't just a very light mist, the water comes right through the fabric. It collects at the seems and drip on in. After experiencing this, I did find a little note on the tag that said something about the tent having the latest and greatest water proofing BUT!! in heavy rain, water would come through.
The 85000 does not come with a fly and as far as I have been able to determine, they don't make one for it. This may be the reason they don't make the 85000 anymore? I wish I had had it out in the rain when it was new so I could return it. But the weather was nice during the one trip where we used it and the only rain we got was a light sprinkle. Two years later, I pulled it out for an over night camp and it rained. It rained in the tent! I should have used my old Diamond Brand tent. I have had that for years and it took a flooded river for it to get wet inside.
Live and learn. I would be very cautious of this new model and test it in some heavy rain while you can still return it.
Other than it not keeping out the rain, the rest of the tent seems to be great. It hooked up to the Subaru very easily. It has good internal space for a 4 person tent. The floor is sturdy and there are plenty of zippers for openings, shades, etc and they have worked well so far. The bugs have been kept out.
